Join our client’s fast-growing fintech organization as Chief Financial Officer. In this pivotal executive role, you will take ownership of the company’s financial strategy and end-to-end financial operations, playing a crucial part in shaping strategic decision-making and long-term business growth. This role requires a strong command of financial leadership in a tech-driven environment, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic, innovative setting.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the finance organization:

Provide strategic financial leadership by guiding the finance team, strengthening financial processes, and driving continuous improvement across planning, budgeting, reporting, and control.

Own financial strategy and operations:

Take full end-to-end responsibility for financial management—from forecasting and capital allocation to compliance and risk management—ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely insights that support strategic decisions.

Work effectively within an Agile, fast-paced environment:

Collaborate closely with executive leadership, product, data, and operational teams to support business initiatives and drive financial sustainability and scalability.

Understand business and market dynamics:

Translate complex financial and commercial insights into actionable plans that support product growth, customer value, and operational excellence.

Analyze complex financial challenges:

Diagnose root causes, identify financial risks and opportunities, and deliver clear, effective solutions that protect the business and enable informed decision-making.

Act as a key strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team:

Provide financial guidance on company-wide initiatives including pricing, fundraising, expansion, product investment, and regulatory considerations.

Maintain a hands-on approach:

Engage directly in financial modeling, reporting, forecasting, investor materials, and compliance oversight to ensure accuracy and strategic alignment.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders:

Communicate effectively with investors, regulators, auditors, banks, and partners while ensuring clear alignment across all internal teams.

Champion continuous improvement:

Explore new financial tools, data approaches, and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency, transparency, and strategic insight.

Demonstrate flexibility:

Be open to occasional work outside core hours and travel within Europe for leadership meetings, investor relations, or regulatory engagements.

Requirements

At least 7–10+ years of senior finance leadership experience, ideally within fintech, financial services, or high-growth tech.

Full-time availability (40 hours) and based in or willing to relocate to Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.

Strong financial acumen with deep experience in FP&A, financial control, risk management, and compliance.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Proven experience preparing high-quality executive reporting, board materials, and investor communications.

Strong understanding of regulatory environments relevant to fintech (e.g., PSD2, AML, risk frameworks).

Proficiency with modern financial systems, data tools, and reporting platforms.

Experience working in an international, scaling environment.

Bonus Points

Experience with fundraising, investor relations, or M&A.

Background working with cloud-based financial tools and automated reporting ecosystems.

Knowledge of European financial regulation and compliance frameworks.

Familiarity with subscription/SaaS or transaction-based business models.

Understanding of project management methodologies or Agile ways of working.
